acousmatic and electroacoustic music
Acousmatic music is organized sound one hears without importance to see the originating cause. The term acousmatic refers to the listening experience in which the sonic perception focuses on the parameters of sound objects, multitimbral and polyphonic relations, textures, and evolutions in time and space.
This kind of electroacoustic music is composed during postproduction and listened to by means of a multiphonic sound system or an orchestra of loudspeakers (acousmonium). The diffusion in space is spatialized live during the performance or is precomposed on a fixed medium.
This music is made using electronic equipment, microphone recordings of all kinds of sounds in any acoustical environment, effects and editing with computer software (computer music), and algorithms controlling parameters of analog and digital electronic instruments (parametric/algorithmic music).
Due to the freedom of composing in all kinds of ways, with different kinds of techniques, structures, and synthesized or recorded sounds, acousmatic music does not refer to any particular style or genre. Therefore one should not expect to perceive any rhythmical or melodic structures. What you hear is what you get.

Muziek is de spontane herkenning van vorm in de chaos van een auditieve branding. Motieven duiken op en verdwijnen weer in de witte ruis van de in vloed verkerende zee. Geluiden worden geïsoleerd. Een tafeltennisbal die slechts éénmaal kaatst, valt op in een muur van lawaai. Geluiden worden gecombineerd. Het vallen van tienduizenden van die ballen geeft het geluidseffect van een drum& bass-band op speed. Muziek bestaat in het oor van de luisteraar. Referenties aan meer conventionele electronische muziek worden op hun kracht beproefd door ze te plaatsen tegen ongemoduleerde geluidsfragmenten. Muziek bestaat niet. Muziek is de bewustwording van het ons altijd omringende geluid. Geluid is eeuwig. Het raast in niet-bestaande cycli van vermeende eb en gedachte vloed. Het moet gevangen worden. Decyclage.
